Flattening

It is very important to have a flat surface to begin the restoration process. Distorted material makes the process very difficult, because the application in an uneven surface is not controllable. There are situations in which the artist has made its own paper, or has used mixed techniques or mediums where the flattening procedure is unique to each object. There are several techniques for flattening artworks.

Humidity Flattening

Dry Flattening

Weight Flattening

Local Selective Flattening

The shape, firmness and aesthetic physical condition of the piece is recovered by this phase.
